Where to find a sensitive Hyaluronic Acid (HA) quantitative assay

Hyaluronic acid (also called HA or Hyaluronan) is a glycosaminoglycan with elevated viscosity, enabling tissues (eye, skin, joint and synovial fluid…) to resist to physical and mechanical constraints (torsion, flexion…). Over time, when HA production declines, tissues progressively lose these tensile properties, leading to wrinkles and fold, weak re-epithelisation and age-related troubles. But HA is also involved in many other chronic and cancer-related diseases. In this post, we’ll review one of the most popular HA quantification assays (ELISA test), known to be highly sensitive and robust, appreciated by researchers involved in cosmetology and drug discovery.

Open innovation in cosmetology at Cosmetic 360 – Paris, Oct. 13-14

This year, the Cosmetic-360 Meeting organised by the world’s leading perfumery cosmetics network, Cosmetic Valley, will take place in Paris on October 13th & 14th.

As a member of this network, tebu-bio will again be participating in this trade show focussed on open innovations. A recent review by Nadim et al. casts some light on a Cosmetology and Dermatology, where circulating biomarkers, though studied to a certain extent so far, are yet unknown for many skin models. (1) A first element to have in mind when considering the skin-related experimental model is the “Oxygen level”. Oxygen levels may contribute to different findings, and the in vitro models used so far may not be so physiologically relevant as initially thought.
