Primary cells: ready-to-use, QC tested media

10/09/2019 by Isabelle Nobiron, PhD No Comments

In a previous post, I introduced a complete panel of ready-to-use specialized media for smooth muscle primary cells culture. Produced by Cell Applications, a GMP certified manufacturer of primary cells distributed by tebu-bio in Europe, these media were originally designed for Cell Applications own primary cells culture. However, many researchers isolating their own cells are using them to benefit from the expertise of a primary cell manufacturer and to use thoroughly QC tested media. Here, I invite you to look at a new selection for popular primary cell types, from skeletal muscle cells to synoviocytes, endothelial cells to pre-adipocytes. Have a read and find the one you need!

Antibody Purification: Tips and Tricks

09/09/2019 by Isabelle Topin, PhD No Comments

For all species, classes or size (FL vs. fragments)

Whatever the type of antibody production (hybridoma or recombinant protein production in bacteria or in mammalian cells), you need to isolate your antibody of interest from other proteins present in the sample (sera, ascites fluid, medium, cell lysate…).

In order to isolate the antibody of interest, you need to select the right strategy depending on the nature of the antibody (species, class, tagged or not), the purity required and the intrinsic antibody physico-chemistry.

Since 2000, tebu-bio provides antibody services from production to purification, we can help you further determine the most appropriate strategy by considering all parameters, including intrinsic antibody characteristics and following experimental requirements.

This article is your first guide to prepare the best angle of attack to put into action!

Multiplex Protein Assays: which one fits you best?

06/09/2019 by Isabelle Nobiron, PhD No Comments

Multiplex protein assays allow multiple targets quantification in a single sample, a bit like performing up to 40 different ELISAs in one go. Outsourcing Multiplex Protein Quantification projects to experts may work out more cost effective and time saving. It saves you the hassle of setting up a new technology in your lab, and you can rely on people with years of expertise in the technology to generate quality data on the very first run. Should you wish to set it up in your own lab, some technologies are easily adaptable if you have access to the equipment.

ORF expressing Lentiviral system

05/09/2019 by Dimitri Szymczak, PhD No Comments

ORF expression in Mammalian cells is very useful for many applications: protein production with HEK293, over-expression of tagged protein for immuno-tracking or immuno-precipitation, development of a cell line for drug discovery such as a cancer model expressing PD-1 or PD-L1…

Unfortunately, plasmid delivery into primary cells and cell lines is often challenging, providing low or even no transfection efficiency. The solution is a robust lentiviral system.

So, how do you identify the right lentiviral system? With the titer! The higher is the better. 107TU/ml is ok… and 108TU/ml is very good.
