Kinases and phosphatases
Kinases are one of the largest enzyme families in the human genome. Knowing that putative kinase sequences constitute at least 2% of the human genome and that around 30% of all proteins contain covalently bound phosphate, phosphorylation appears as a key process in signal transduction.
