Animal Primary Cells
Feline Chondrocytes (FC)

Feline Chondrocytes (FC) are derived from the articular cartilage of cats and are cryopreserved at second passage. FC can be passaged at least 10 population doublings. Following monolayer culturing, FC can be grown in alginate microspheres to study chondrocyte proliferation and metabolism in a three-dimensional in vitro system1. Alginate microspheres allow chondrocytes to produce and retain surrounding proteoglycans as in articular cartilage. Because of the prevalence of degenerative joint disease (DJD) in geriatric cats2, FC can be a useful tool for veterinary practice.

Each lot tested negative for HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C and negative for mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, fungi.
