Animal Primary Cells
Bovine Brain Microvascular Endothelial Cells (BBMVEC)
Bovine Brain Microvascular Endothelial Cells (BBMVEC) are isolated from microvessels of bovine brain. The cells are cryopreserved at second passage. BBMVEC can be cultured and propagated for at least 12 population doublings. Brain Microvascular Endothelial Cells form the basis of the blood-brain barrier, and have been used as a model for research on bacterial meningitis1,2,3. Hypoxia-ischemia studies showed that BBMVEC cell death may exacerbate ischemic brain injury4. BBMVEC have also been used to show oxyhemoglobin induces apoptosis in vascular endothelial cells5. Co-culture with Atrocytes generate an in vitro model that closely mimics the in vivo situation for evaluating drug transport6.   Animal Cells - Bovine Brain Microvascular Endothelial Cells
