Human Aortic Smooth Muscle Cells (HAOSMC)
Human Aortic Smooth Muscle Cells (HAOSMC) are derived from tunica intima and tunica media of normal human, fibrous plaque-free aorta. They are cryopreserved at second passage and can be cultured and propagated at least 16 population doublings. Arterial smooth muscle cells are capable of synthesizing collagen, elastin, myosin and glycosaminoglycan1,2. Increased production of connective tissue components, hyperplasia and hypertrophy of intimal smooth muscle cells are found to gradually occlude the vessel lumen in atherosclerosis1,2. HAOSMC respond to various factors by proliferating or differentiating3,4. Characterization: Positive for smooth muscle cell specific a -actin expression.

Each lot tested negative for HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C and negative for mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, fungi.
